Alternative Opportunities and Preferred Family Healthcare Merge

Alternative Opportunities and Preferred Family Healthcare are combining successful nonprofits with a common goal – to provide innovative, integrated services emphasizing quality care and exceptional outcomes in person-centered environments. This full spectrum of care includes a five state area: Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. The newly combined organization will operate as Preferred Family Healthcare and will be led by a senior executive resource team; governed by a board of directors. Collectively, both organizations have more than 60 years of dedicated service to the communities they serve. Michael Schwend, President and CEO of Preferred Family Healthcare commented:

“The combination of our two organizations creates a very exciting opportunity for our company, our stakeholders, the communities we serve and most importantly the individuals and families we commit to serve proudly every day. We look forward to delivering the same level of quality health care services while developing new care initiatives into broadening markets.”

The merger enables focused efforts toward a comprehensive system of care that covers a wide range of populations and incorporates behavioral health, primary care and critical resources, such as supported living and employment services. Marilyn Nolan, CEO of Alternative Opportunities noted:

“The integration of our health care with support services is highly complementary and will yield many synergies. This will significantly benefit the individuals and families we serve in the years ahead. We are very much looking forward to blending our strengths as we continue to deliver outstanding, responsive services to the current communities we serve and the future communities we will serve.”

The merger is scheduled to be finalized on May 1, 2015.
