Capitol Area Crisis Intervention Team Training Held

MRN served as a leader in the creation of the Capitol Area Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). Training took place June 15-19 in Jefferson City at the Jefferson City Police Department.  Thirty-three individuals were trained.

CIT officers help to improve interaction between law enforcement and persons with behavioral health issues and prevent the inappropriate restraint, incarceration, and stigmatization of persons with mental health illness and substance use disorders.

Police officers from around the state attending the training, which featured a variety of presenters and topics, including:

  • understanding mental health
  • medications and side effects
  • suicide prevention
  • tactical communications; and
  • a consumer panel
