On October 4, 2015, recovery advocates from across the country convened in Washington, D.C. at the National Mall in a show of support for those in and/or seeking recovery at the UNITE to Face Addiction rally.
The Missouri Recovery Network was proud to be one of over 200 partner organizations who helped mobilize individuals for this groundbreaking event. Additionally, MRN was able to send 26 recovery leaders from Missouri to attend UNITE to Face Addiction.
MRN recognizes that we must end the shame, stigma, and community denial that surround addiction and recognize it for the devastating health issue that it is.
Addiction impacts one in three households in America. Additionally, 90% of people in need of treatment for addiction don’t receive it — this discrimination must end. These are not bad people… these are good people to whom bad things have happened.
UNITE to Face Addiction was a catalyst for a larger, organized recovery movement that the Missouri Recovery Network has been supportive of since 1999. We hope you will continue to keep the momentum from this event going in the upcoming months. Show your support for those in and/or seeking recovery by participating in MRN’s Recovery Advocacy Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Let’s show our legislators that we refuse to be silent anymore!
